YoungLives

YoungLives is a support program for teen mothers. Group meets once a month for food, games, and fun at Vida's Ark, located on Reserve directly across from Hudson’s Bay High School. For those girls who are interested, YoungLives offers mentor relationships. A Christian woman commits one year to investing in the lives of a teen mom and her child. The mentor and her mentee meet weekly for fun, encouragement, and personal growth. Leaders invest in more than one girl and volunteer at the school.

Once a month, group also has a Night Out, which changes every month. In the past, Night Outs have included Spa Nights, swimming, horseback riding, and trips to Kids Club. Program offers a weekly Bible study after school and in the summer goes to one of Young Life’s amazing camp properties for what is often called ”the best week of your life”.

GOAL/MISSION:
To introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith.

WHO IS MENTORED?
High school girls who are pregnant or parenting

Volunteer leaders:  7
Girls involved in program not being mentored:  approx. 25

WHO CAN BE A MENTOR?
Any mature, Christian woman who loves the Lord and has a heart to be in a committed mentoring relationship with a teen mom.

TRAINING REQUIRED:
Provided prior to matching a mentor with a mentee, and then ongoing at monthly mentor meetings.  A yearly weekend at Young Life’s Wild Horse Training in September.

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED:
One year commitment. Two hours per week with mentee. Three hours in the evening, twice a month for events with the girls. One hour once a month for a mentor meeting. One week in the summer going to camp with mentee, other teen moms, and mentors.
